I think one like this Cullman buck is an oddity or freak. Definitely a trophy.

I don't think a 150-inch or bigger buck given enough age, nutrition and if it does have good genes is an oddity or freak, though. It takes age, nutrition and yes, good genes, to grow and express their potential, without the excuses so often given as why they won't or can't get bigger or "needed to be taken out of the herd."

No argument from me on that, either.
I know what the 'average' is for my area. And, I know how to age deer. I kill some that have average racks, but are mature.
But, I think that a lot of people would really be surprised at some of the bucks I, and plenty others, have killed down here in Clarke County......where all the 'crappy' genes came from off the Stimpson Sanctuary. LOL

Yep, I bet there is over 50" of mass or pretty durn close to it. Probably 120-130" before you start adding tine length in.

I was told that the H3 measurement on the right side was right at 6" shocked

Brian remember the pic I showed you of this deer a couple years ago? You would not believe the way this deer comes through the woods. This is the same deer I was telling you I saw the evening of the Halloween party at Longview last year. I only saw him with bow in hand on several occasions at 75-100 yards.

I have permission to hunt this property and have hunted it for 10 years now. I personally vouch this is a free range deer. I have saw it on the hoof a couple times the last several years. He called me right after he shot it to help him come get it out to clean and cape it. Unfortunately I had 4 ft of water rushing across my driveway and could not get out. The pic looked like the property owner's pasture fence but it is possible a high fence being in the background of some of the pictures floating around as the guy who cleaned it and scored it is a deer farmer and the deer was brought to his place to be cleaned and scored. As for the score I could believe it and I trust the guy who scored it with that being said I have not laid hands on the rack yet. Congrats to my buddy and I thank him for letting me hunt his farm!!!

That deer obviously had the genetics to do what he did, but he would never have gotten there without age. He'd have died as a two yr old 10 on most properties.

I can't imagine killing a deer like that. It would be an amazing experience, but not one I'd want to go through. After it's all over bet that guy wishes he'd have kept those pics close too.

I'd like to know that buck's age.

Was he 6-7 years old, you reckon?

Congrats to the man who was blessed to take him!

I was told 7 1/2 by the man who killed it, i hunt his farm where the deer was killed.

10-4, James. I didn't realize this was the one you saw in bow season last year. You said it was big, but you didn't make it sounds like it was this big!

So, they took the deer to Hop's to clean/cape it? That never crossed my mind about the pictures being taken by his deer pens

I told you and Denver it was a stud. I was always nonchalant about it cause I didn't want the word to get out about that deer, people get stupid when they hear of a deer lIke that. Now that he is dead it doesn't make much difference lol. Hop scored it but they cleaned it at Perry's. he sold all his deer but still has his high fence up and it butted up to his shop. I would have loved to have seen it in person. They didn't have a set of scales so no one knows exactly what it weighed.

95% sure the pic I showed you was 2012. They aged him at 7 1/2 that would have put him at 4.5 then. I was told that deer was shot on the golf course that year but got pics of a deer I thought was him the next year (2013). Didn't run any cams over there last year but saw him during bow season. With the new house I didn't run cams over there this year and haven't hunted since bow season. I don't have photo bucket but will send you the pic in a text and you can tell me what you think. I don't mind if you upload it on here either. The time and date on the pic are wrong it was late Sept or early October 2012.

Took him to Perry's house to skin him out. Perry still got the fence at his house from when he had deer.

Damn good deer. Congrats to the hunter. I would like to see it in person. HOSS!

I love the rut. The woods are like a bunch of roided up meatheads fighting over a girl.
