How do you like your grill? I am thinking about getting one for Christmas and wanted to get some input from y'all before I make the big purchase. I am particularly looking at the BGE XL and the Primo Oval XL. I would say I use a grill on average three times a week. I really enjoy cooking on the grill and smoker that I currently have but I am curious as to if these worth the extra money as to compared to my Weber Smokey Mountain and basic my Weber grill?

Best money you will ever spend. Hands down. Get the Primo Oval XL IMHO.

I have a BGE and a Green Mountain pellet grill. Both work great but I find myself using the pellet grill more.

If you grill that much, you absolutely need one! I have BGE XL. I've been using it over 5 years now and love it. Don't know much about the Primo. Although, from what I have heard, you would be happy with either.

I can't explain it in a way that will make the naysayers believe it, but they are the best grills made and food cooked on it is way better than food cooked on a traditional grill. Yes, I'd highly recommend one for someone that grills as much as you say you do.

Lastly, I do know two guys that had BGE, didn't like them and sold them. Coincidentally both guys had the XL. That's a huge grill. Be sure you need that much grill before buying it. I think the L is their most popular size. You can get lots of accessories and racks that increase the amount of food that can be cooked at one time.

If you grill 3 times per week...the only regret you will have is not buying one sooner.

I would suggest the Large though. The extra large is overkill, IMO.

The cost of the Primo must be less than a BGE. There's a BGE at a local store for sale for $1200. I couldn't stop staring at the price. I'm not sure how buying something to cook food with at prices like that could be considered best money ever spent. I like food as much as the next tubby fella on this site, but my grandmother made the best meals I've ever had on a stove!

I saw a Charbroil ceramic grill at Lowe's the other day. looks like a cheap imitation of the real thing. $400 I believe

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

I have the Primos XL. I believe the egg is better at keeping a temp, but the two rack system and firebox divider make the Primos better for smoking and versatility.

I know I'm told I'm supposed to support local stores but when I bought mine I went to Pcola and bought one (BGE, large) out the door for $550. I did buy $60 worth of lumber from the local store to build my table. That was 6 years ago. So I'm in my BGE currently for $100/year or $8.33/month, and falling.

I own the Large BGE but either is a great choice. Use one for a month and you'll apologize for comparing them to a Weber. grin

Let me just say that I was somewhat skeptical and believed a grill is a grill. But lately at a couple of our hunting camp get togethers, I've had steak, deer loin, and pork loin all cooked on a BGE. Probably the tastiest, most moist and tender I can recall eating of all three. Perfectly cooked meats. They were cooked by two different "grill masters" too, so it wasn't just the cook. Made me a believer and I've told my wife that is on my lottery winnings purchase list.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

That's the only way I could afford it!

Maybe the bank will let me hook it to my next auto loan!

Hey, I'm poor folk too. I don't have any kind of ceramic grill. I have raised the lid on a few and the Charbroil seemed to be of lighter construction than the others. I may end up with one of these though.

You may want to consider looking at a Kamado Joe Large as well. Very nice and new ones come standard with the flexible cooking system. Half moon heat deflector and split grill rack allow you to customize your cook to use indirect/direct heat at the same time. It also comes standard with the grill stand, side tables and ash tool. If you want these accessories with a BGE, you have to pay extra for them. I got a Large KJ for Father's Day and I absolutely love it. If I'm not mistaken, it was $899 and the dealer threw in a couple bags of KJ lump and some hickory chips.

We went with Primo. Home-XL oval & a Jr. at the camp. Not much difference between the brands, just a little more room on the Primo. Pizzas are killer when cooked on them.

Folks will spend $5K a year on a hunting lease, $40k on a bass boat, or $2k on a custom rifle they use a few times a year but won't spring $800 for something they will use 3 times a week and will probably last lifetime if they take care of it. Duhr. smile It's all about what you find is valuable to you and no one else. I love my KJ and if anything happened to it I'd go buy another that same week.
