Currently running Windows 7 and have no desire to upgrade really, but the free Windows 10 upgrade promotion is out there. Not sure of the feature differences that would impact me either.

Have they worked out the bugs and kinks from the initial release yet?

Pros/Cons to Windows 10?

Stray skinny said they mine all your information and his advise was not to do it. My pc keeps bugging me to upgrade too.

You can go into your options and turn all of that off. Takes a minute or less.

I upgraded about two months ago, and like it.

Yeah, mine keeps bugging me to upgrade also. But after the steaming pile 8/8.1 has been I'm pretty sure my next upgrade will not be windows based.

I'd switch to a Mac in a heartbeat if some of my needed construction programs had that option. So I'm stuck for the moment.

If you can shut off the spyware that comes pre-installed with it and make sure your pc has the hardware to run it correctly then go ahead and upgrade. Otherwise, I wouldnt do it.

May hold off. Need to revamp our entire small office network anyway. I hate technology more days than not. Always some issue messing with my day. Since I'm the only one with any tech skills I'm the default admin too. We run just enough stuff for it too be manageable when all running perfect. Today sucks. Can't bill hours because I'm dealing with a problematic laptop and server network issue.

Hate this part of my job.

I did it about 2 months ago and love it. Way more user friendly and has run flawlessly.

Our tech support people say to wait till Feb to install it. He says they are still working out a few glitches, but it should be a better system than the dang 8.1 I have now.

If you think your information is not being mined b/c you have not upgraded to Windows 10, then you are extremely naive.

Every web page you go to is mining your information. Facebook, gmail, google, microsoft, amazon, ebay, twitter, wal-mart, aldeer...they all are.

That being said, I have fended of the upgrade for a while b/c I'm not ready to set aside the time I need to make sure it goes smoothly. So, until I have that time and can fight thru the issues, I will keep on 8.1...which by the way, after setting it up properly, I have had a great experience with.

I got a new computer last week and I am having trouble with importing pics off my sd cards from my trail cams. Previously, I just put the card in and a window popped up and I just hit import photos and then delete the card. Now with Windows 10, I doesn't offer that and I have no idea what to do. Any help would be great!

+1

Windows 10 is 100% all about spyware, control and espionage - on every single user. All documents, emails, instant messages, purchases, every single conceivable thing is uploaded my Microsoft into it's giant servers in the sky. All for future government surveillance and control.

I'm running a Mac and have been for a few years now with no looking back. To overcome your problem if certain programs only being available on PC's....I have the same issue that is solved with running Windows Parallels on my Mac.

Worth it. TRUST ME.

I just spent the last few hours setting up Windows 10 on my wife's computer.
I think a lot of the Spy ware or what ever you want to call it can be avoided by setting up as Local User with no Microsoft account.

Upgraded last week. Graphics are good but I'm not overly impressed. You have to actually change a setting to get the "home" icon to display. I can't figure how to load my favorites and not one (including Aldeer, my bank, ect) transferred in the upgrade, I can't go back to my homepage if I'm on another page (I have keep hitting the back arrow to end up at home.

IMO it's not as user friendly as Windows 8 was.
