How long does it typically take to get a deer processed, I have never used one before. The guy told me 7-10 days. I went back after 2 weeks, it still wasn't ready. He told me about 2-3 more days and he'd call me when it was ready. We are almost at 4 weeks now and still no call.

The guy we use is always quick and clean. Last year me,dad, and my brother took 5 to him over two days. All we did was field dress them and drop them off on (3 friday,2 Saturday) and the following Wednesday he called said all 5 deer was ready to go in vacuum sealed bags except the ground meat. It was in one pound packs like sausage comes in.

haleyville al,
Hope he has a freezer. What you get back I doubt will be your meat.

That's what I'm afraid of. Primarily why I've never tried one before.

4 weeks is way too long. That's no way to run a business. I wouldn't use them ever again. And I would ask him how it's ok for a deer to hang that long.

My dad just dropped one off on Saturday and the guy called him yesterday and said it was ready. Which is too early. I hope the meat isn't tough because it didn't even have time to go through full rigor process. Or drain the meat of blood to not taste Gamey

I seriously doubt it will be your deer and unless he is new in this business and just took on more than he was expecting and could handle, I find it hard to believe he's THAT busy. I'd have a conversation with him about where/how my deer had been stored this whole time and address my concerns about getting MY deer meat back. Depending on the answers I got I'd be prepared to tell him they can keep the deer.
