Anybody on here ever given this Urban deer hunting a shot? Seems like it could actually be a pretty good strategy.

If you can get permission, I'd highly recommend it...

I might. All I've hunted up here in Maryland so far has been urban, backyard stuff. When I was in AL, I was able to hunt a few times with a buddy in the Pelham area as well. Lots of un-pressured deer that aren't on alert 24/7/365 due to not being shot at 24/7/365.

I'd go talk to the neighbors prior to the hunt and make sure they'd let you on it. I haven't had that as a problem, as we've gotten the "ok" from the neighbors to track on their places, even if we don't have hunting rights on them.

Yes to urban deer hunting. A buddy I work with bow hunts his backyard in a large neighborhood in Shelby county and he sees a pile of deer and has a couple big bucks in camera. I've hunted with him. It's different hearing people go to work, step outside to smoke a cigarette, joggers going by etc....but the deer don't care.

I live in Trussville, and our neighborhood backs up to the Cahaba River Watershed. There is actually a small Bow hunting club just behind the houses across the street. Our street is a dead end and a guy down the street ask the neighbors at the end of the dead end if he could hunt and he has hunted there for at least two years. he moved away and I have toyed with the idea of asking them if i could hunt there now...

if you go with the bow angle it is much easier to gain permission usually. Some areas you can get away with a firearm "if" it is out of the city limits, etc. But again I would go the crossbow or bow route.
and yes, since the cat is out of the bag, it can be some great hunting.
Another plus is these urban deer are more used to human scent so getting busted isn't "as much" of a problem.

There are monsters killed within atlanta city limits. I saw a huge racked buck killed by a car in Montgomery several yrs ago inside city limits.

1. Do you own the land your trying to hunt, or do you have written permission from the owner to hunt the property
2. Is it in the city limit? Most cities will not let you discharge a weapon in the city limits

It would be in the city limits, with landowner permission, and a bow. Does that make it a no go?

Each city is different and may have an ordinance that even prohibits now hunting. Just call the city and find out.

I could hunt my back yard, but if I stuck a deer that then ran into the interstate and caused a wreck, it might get ugly!
Really good deer here around Hoover I-65-119/Valleydale.

The first mature buck I killed was with my bow in the city. About 150 acres surrounded by neighborhoods. Watched a lady walk circles in her backyard with weights in her hand for most of that afternoon. Heart shot a 130 in buck right at dark. 17 yrs later still my best bow kill
