Not finding much sign yet. Nothing compared to the last few years anyways. Thinking it may be a couple weeks away for some reason this year

I've been finding lots of scrapes and rubs since the opening of bow season, but that's nothing out of the ordinary at our place (western Winston County). "Prime time" of our rut is the last two weeks of December

The part if bankhead I hunt above curry is wide open During thankksgiving. But so far this year. I'm not seeing the scrapes and rubs like years past. I seen were a few people are saying the same thing. None the less I'll be watching thicket edges

Y'all are going to miss it entirely if y'all don't get out there now. It gets later the farther south you go but in North Winston it's occurring as I type this. Middle of Winston is late November. South Winston and north walker is late November to early December. East Winston seems to be early to mid December.

Matt is correct. I'm in the very SE corner and seeing very little activity right now.

Matt Brock I just got in a new club 4 miles south of Double Springs. They have acted like there is not a defined rut but the week before christmas through the New year is most likely the time to kill a good one. Does this sound about right to you?

The data I've collected there has shown peak breeding to range from late November until the end of December. It's one of the areas we need more data. We've collected a few around Black Pond that were the first week of December.

Matt Brock,
I have a friend who has several thousand acres in Black Pond, what dates will likely be the peak rut period for that area? Is it what you stated in above post or do you have samples showing other dates as well?

I hunt below double springs and the one I killed this morning hocks stunk, and you could see were he had been rubbing but his neck wasn't swollen. I've been seeing some fresh rubs so it won't be long. I'm thinking it'll really pick up in a week to ten days.

Me and a buddy got a double on Monday west of arley and both had swollen necks, black stinking tarsals and bark on their antlers. Still haven't found much sign though.
