I'm headed up Thursday to hunt Saturday-Tuesday during their one week of rifle season. This is my third year going. I've killed a 9 point, 230lb doe, and 189lb doe so far. It unreal at the number of deer and size of them up there. They also have produced more B&C than any other state by a wide margin over Illinois. Just wondering if any of you guys ever hunt up there. Very cheap out of state tags. 79 for fist time hunters and only 160 after that.

I'd like to see a pic of a doe over 200lbs. I can't even imagine that.

Are you hunting private land or public?

The deer up there are like little ponies.

A lot of hunters, the ones looking for a really big buck, up there pass up 140- and 150-inch bucks without much of a problem or second thought. And if you want meat but don't care about antlers then you can kill some whopper does and small-antlered bucks. Lot of deer, lot of food. Lot of good scenery, too.

Turkey hunting sucks, though. No turkeys. None in the entire state. Ever.

Where are you hunting at up there? I went on a fishing trip in north central part of the state in September and my guide also does deer, bear, and turkey hunts?

A buddy of mine has family up there and he has 80 acres we can hunt. It's near Kendall which is kind of southwest in the state. Its absolutely ridiculous up there compared to here. One guy up there killed 2 yearlings last year and both weighed over 110. Up there you have to register every deer killed, and when I was registering mine and a guy showed up with a monster 8 with 28 inch spread. There have been 3 separate occasions where I've seen more than 30 turkey at once. I'd love to own some land up there one day. It has it all!

We drove from Schofield down to Green Bay for a packers game and we saw several big bucks in the corn fields and couldn't count all the turkey. I was thinking about going back for a hunt with the guide service I fished with. Keep us updated while you are there.

Buffalo County is the spot with all those BC giants, but it sounds like you're in close proximity. I've hunted up North near the UP, far fewer and smaller racked but still unreal compared to here. Kinda hard to get excited about deer hunting here.

Wolves have done a number on the deer herd in upper part of the State.

Good luck!

I appreciate it. It's a Ruger m77 Mark ll .300 Win Mag NWTF special edition like 315 out of 500 or something. I won it in a raffle for 20 dollars lol. I've killed a lot of deer with it. She'll knock your shoulder off, but very accurate and a ton of knockdown power

I grew up in Northern Wisconsin and try to get back every couple of years to deer hunt. Most of the land we hunt is public land and yes the Timberwolves have done a number on the deer herd in northern Wisconsin. Hoyt you should look into fishing in northern Wisconsin for Smallies I've got a couple friends I graduated that guide and can also put you on some Muskies.
