Not sure if you're interested in going out of state, but if I was taking a family trip I'd look hard here. Prarie Wildlife has phenomenal lodging and you can work in a quail or rabbit hunt and get the whole family involved. There's some real good deer in that area as well.
Probabaly a 4-5 hour drive from Mobile up near West Point, MS.

Bent Creek is an outstanding Lodge and experience. Leo an Dr. Lanier do a great job and are very Accommodating. They have some of the best hunting property in the state. With 30,000 plus acres they have enough land to keep the hunting pressure at a minimum.

We hunted master rack my cousin shot a stud nine point but we found out that his deer was well above average for them. Out of our group of four he was the only one to pull the trigger. Not nocking it but I've hunted at two outfitters in al and wont do it again. For 2500 or 2700 you can go to Texas and bring home a truck load of really nice bucks. When we went to Texas four us of went and four came home with one or two bucks scoring in the 120 to 130 range. In my opinion if your going to spend the money to go on a paid hunt I'd go somewhere where you are just about guaranteed a good buck.

Another highlight of my hunt at BC. The fella that took us out one afternoon, dropped me off and I had a decent walk in to the stand. I stayed in the stand until it was dark, then walked back to the pick up point. I waited for about an hour before I started to get worried. I thought he must have forgotten where he dropped me off. After about 2 hours after dark I see headlights coming down a long gravel road. I got in the truck, after he didnt say anything about why he was late getting to pick me up. I ask, he said when someone hunts with him, he likes to give them their moneys worth. LOL.....

Some way some how I'll hunt tara one day. It's the only lodge I've ever had any desire to go to. From my understanding there has only ever been a gun fired on the place 4-5 times

We will burn that bridge when we get there

If the distance wasn't a big concern, I'd look on the texas deer hunting forum under the outfitter posts and I'm sure you could find something, lots of reasonable outfitters prices on there from what I saw, if I'm dropping $3000 for deer hunting I'm not doing it in bama. Texas depending on what part is roughly 10-12 hours out from here and they have lots of animals , hope whatever you do yall have fun

Sorry guys, I haven't been myself but have driven past the place a couple of times and have heard from others how nice it is. I also have a buddy that hunts in that immediate area and there are plenty of deer and some pretty good ones as well. That's an underrated area of Mississippi in my opinion. Maybe one day I'll get to try Prairie out for myself. wink

Look into the Wilcox Academy Hunt held each year in Camden and surrounding areas. William Malone is on here some, and can line you out on it. I think he goes by swamphunter. I have seen alot of good deer come off this hunt. All of it is private land and they go out of their way to accommodate you once you arrive. Great group of folks. They do a three day hunt you really need to try. You will not be disappointed at all with these folks. I used to hunt property in this area and the hunting on the private lands there cannot be beat.

My brothers and son in laws have hunted with Craig Hawkins at Hawkins Ridge near Eufaula the last three years. We have all shot deer each year and the place was great. It's best to hunt late in the season there from our experience. Late January or early February sees the best buck movement. Good luck.

I went on hunts at the main Tara camp in 2000 and 2001. That place is awesome.
