Can anyone recommend a coyote trapping DVD? I can get them to work my sets but they always leave me with snapped traps still in the bed. I need all the help I can get. Look at the way you are Bedding your trap. This is what causes 70% of snapped traps with NO coyote. The other 20% is pan tension. If its to lite it will go off as he/she digs. Also , How close is your trap to the hole??? If your Crowding the hole, maybe the dirt or rocks are getting kick up on the pan. Set it back 9-10 inchs from hole and a few inchs right AND bed it good and see what happens I've been using a trappers cap and I've been packing the dirt inside the jaws. I also dig a hole out under the trap for the chain so it doesn't cause the trap to rock. I put peat moss over the levers and jaws and dust them. I try not to pack dirt over the moving parts any more because I was thinking that it was slowing the trap down and this was the issue. I've been using peat moss in these areas and dusting with local dirt. I've had the same results with both MB550 and MB650. I have been placing the trap back about 9" but not offset. As far a pan tension goes, I just ordered a trap tester and will try to set them to 4 lbs. I try to bed them solid but maybe I'm not doing as good a job as I thought. I have watched many youtube videos but I think I'm going to pick up a DVD too. Thanks for the input.
