First off, lets get the noob stuff out of the way. Been spending a good amount of time on the site for the last two months, learning what I can and laughing at the shenanigans.
Moved down to Henry County beginning of August onto a 300 acre pine plantation/farm from Middle Tennessee. Started bowhunting a couple years ago and always hunted private farm land with permission from a neighbor farmer usually growing soybeans and corn on the Kentucky/TN border. I was never in a position to or needed to manage any form of QDM with regard to seasonal food plot management.
The game has changed and I am trying to learn everything I can related to year round supplemental food source and habitat management. The farm I am living on now has always planted annual rye on the existing plots year after year.
Everything was on track, planned to plant last two weeks of Sep. depending on weather forecast and backwards plan from there. Before a single piece of dirt was turned, tractor went down...Didn't get anything disked until last week, seed is sitting in the barn (planting Tecomate Greenfield this year), and no rain on the forecast anywhere in sight.
Looking for some reassurance or guidance from those that have much more experience than me that I haven't botched fall planting. Temps are still in the 80s daily, dirt is like desert sand...
What damage may have been done by disking weeks before getting seed in the ground? After disking, I did cultipack to firm up the seed bed and try to help retain some moisture in the topsoil.

Remember, lime needs to be put in deeper than most seed, as it's going to affect the soil where the seed roots are. Don't till the ground up much, broadcast your seed, then cultipack it or drag it to cover the seeds ahead of a rain.
