I'm tired of their schit.

I keep an extra receiver at the camp house. If I switch to Dish, can I do the same? That has been the only reason I've stayed with Direct.

I'd like to know the same thing. We have Dish at the camp house, but only one receiver at one place for now.

Whoever you go with, don't tell them that's what its for or they'll want to make you set up another account. I had to tell direct TV I used it to take to tailgates a few weekends/yr, but they've started cracking down on that stuff.

I called them and told them to cancel at the end of the month. 2 days later they call me and give me an offer to stay. It required a one year agreement which I wasn't fond of but the lady told me my bill would be x for the first 6 months and x for the last 6 months. OK, that sounds reasonable. She then passed me on to 'confirmation' specialist. She wanted me to confirm my price would be x for the first 6 months but couldn't guarantee me the last 6 months. Hell no, I'm not agreeing to contract anything for 6 months at an unspecified price. I hung up on her.

Par for the course with that company.

I'm in the same boat, I take my SD dtv box camping. I don't think you can take dish without purchasing the "dish on the go" package. You'll be tired of their schit too in no time. We are all spoiled to sports any time & they have us by the balls.

FYI DirecTV has been bought by AT&T (Uverse). LINK

I have dish at my work and at my farm. I have one box at work that we use for the weather and for the music in building. I took the other 2 boxes to the farm.

I had to buy a second dish and install it. It was pretty easy. Lots of YouTube videos telling you how to do it. I like the fact that one of the farm boxes has a DVR in it. We record alot of games and shows so if the weather gets real bad we can still watch something. I put a 35" TUBE tv outside in the screened porch where we cook. Nobody has stolen it yet (3 years) but that is probably because it weighs about 600 pounds.

I love my country, but don't trust my government.

AT&T Uverse did me the same way. Told them I was swapping and they offered me a great package so I said ok I'll keep it. The lady discounted that current month but didn't lock me in for the package she offered. First bill was correct, second, third, fourth bills all came $40 higher. Each month I had to call AT&T and argue with them about my bill. They always told me the no longer currently offered that package. I told them I don't give a f*ck what package you offer now. This is what was offered to me 2,3,4 months ago and I accepted it for an entire year. I finally worked my way high enough to have it put on my account correctly. But wow nothing pissed me off more than having to do that each month.

I had a DVR replaced last week and got a new 12 mo deal for $60 a month. I got a letter yesterday saying I had 7 days to return the old card in the old dvr or pay a big penality. That no care for the old dvr just the card. I had to get it out of the sinkhole and send the card. I thought that was strange.

Well, I just got an email saying that they have lowered my bill $50/ month. I don't know what the hell is going on. I doubt they do either.

Rebel, which package do you have with them?
I dropped them at the end of last year after having to go thru phone calls to them each and every month with my bill jacked up and aint looked back. I went with Charter.
My in laws still have directv and they are being charged $80 something bucks a month for a basic package and nothing they have is even in Hi deff !! They ( direct) are some thieving bastages and as I said, I'll never ever ever ever go back to them.
And dont even get me started on how the signal will get lost in any kind of rainy weather. A butterfly could fly in front of our direct satellite dish and the signal would drop. Screw you Directv!!

I now have the Choice package. I had the Entertainment package earlier today. I have 5 receivers, HD, and DVR and my new monthly bill is $71.

I've had Dish, Charter, Direct, CableOne, Mid-Continent, blah blah blah

Every last one of them is like decent looking woman, you're gonna get tired of their sh!t once they reveal who they really are.
Notice I didn't say they are like a hot woman, you can put up with their sh!t a little longer due to them being hot.

Ok thanks,....Im going to call them bastages for my inlaws ( who are 90 and 85 yo) . They dont like to talk to sales people on the phone and have just been paying the $80+ bill each month when it comes in. Its time to do something for sure to get the bill lowered!
As I said earlier, they have one flat screen tv that we bought for them a few Christmases ago, and the box from Directv isnt even Hi Def!!

Thanks rebel !!

When you call just ask for customer retention and skip customer service. I've been with direct tv 8 yrs and have always been able to negotiate a sweet deal after contracts expire.

My wife nearly divorced me last time me and her went together to buy a car. I caused a scene that the dealership probably still talks about. It was so bad that the next time she needed a car I went and bought one and brought it home to her never knowing I was even shopping.
