I've been spending $18x2=$36 for replacement heat shrink tubing each year for my 2 climbers. I am cheap so I am looking for a less expensive source. I wish to buy a roll that will last several years and it is not only difficult to find but all I see is really expensive.

Specs for a climber is 66" x 1.125" and I need two per climber or 11' per climber ... I need 22' per year so I'd be looking for 66' or more ... Looks Like I am paying $1.64/ft right now ...

Anyone know of a source where I can find a longer roll?

I always pickup some from my local battery building shop but for the stuff that's more specialty I order from the site in the link. I linked a 100ft roll that I sourced for you maybe it will work.
$1.40/ft! https://m.wirecare.com/products/h2n1-25b...ck-100-ft-spool

Not really man depending on shrink ratio, wall thickness, material the shrink is made of,adhesive inside the tube or not... That's pretty much on par at that price for that roll brother

I now consider myself a borderline shrink wrap for summit stands expert. I'm pasting my post from another thread here for you:

I just replaced the cables wrapping on both of my summits and a buddies summit as well. I kinda thought it was crazy to pay so much for the "Summit" shrink tube. Looked all over the place to find the specifics on the shrink tube to order, but didn't have much luck. Ended up ordering two sizes off eBay with free shipping. Neither worked and I had to send both back. They were 2:1 shrink ratio and sizes 5/8" (16mm) and 9/16" (14mm). They wouldn't shrink down tight enough on the cable parts. Anything smaller in diameter wouldn't have fit over the knobs.

So then I started looking at a more aggressive shrink ratio. In a 3:1 shrink ratio, the 5/8" would have been ideal but I couldn't find that size, so I ordered the 3/4". They worked perfectly.

I ended up getting enough tubing to do 10 cables (or 5 stands) for $35. This would have cost roughly $90 (plus shipping) if I had ordered the Summit specific shrink tubing.

Also, while the tubing was off, I painted the cables to help keep them protected once this tubing starts to break and crack.

Link to tubing on ebay:

this has an adhesive, which mine didn't have and is a little more expensive http://www.ebay.com/itm/3-4-18mm-Black-5...=item2a4f3a4e83

this is a solid buy: http://www.ebay.com/itm/331014000104?var=540694857538&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&fromMakeTrack=true

individual sections, but better price: http://www.ebay.com/itm/5-8-15-0mm-Polyo...=item4d0283573d

best buy right here, but it's clear (not black): http://www.ebay.com/itm/5-8-CLEAR-100-FT...=item19fdb259a3

Here try this...same material as the other site. I don't know the quality of the tubing but I also found this link for an eBay store selling it as well. Cost much less than the previous link. Still 2:1 ratio so Maybe try this? Different colors as well...Kind-of nice to be offered multiple color choice! Hope that will help even more!

You should be able to buy 4' pieces of heat shrink at any Electrical Supply house. You can always use 2 pieces to get the length you need for a climber.

They can also order it in 25', 50', or 100' rolls.

Several years ago Perchjerker posted step by step instructions along with where to buy the tubing. i had saved all to my hard drive and had issues with the hard drive and lost it all.

Electrical supply houses normally carry it.

Seems to me that several years ago a member here mentioned that he worked for or represented a company that sold Summit the heat shrink that they use. Seems like it was Muzziehead????

I've been using the 4' pieces of 3/4" for several years. I double it up on the bend for thicker protection, plus it stiffens the chain on my API which makes it easier to handle when putting it on the tree and climbing. Buy it at Mayer in Anniston, AL...pretty cheap, but I don't remember the cost. Lasts about two seasons max though.
