Well there's way more damn money in foolin' hunters than dee; known fact. We are all suckers and if you're reading this I'm talkin' to you lol.

It's believed that deer see in the UV spectrum. Greens and reds may not be visible to deer at all.

Stand in front of your deer camera at night in your $300 Camo jacket and tell me what you see. If it's washed out white on camera, like all my awesome Ole' Tom stuff, you ain't gonna be camo'd up at all opening day. Chances are you will be sticking out like a light bulb.

To add insult to injury, the company that sold you your $300 jacket (that cost them $18 to make in China); then spent more money to add UV brightened to your camo fabric to make it more appealing to you, the sucker. UV brighteners make that light bulb effect way worse (think neon sign).

There are products that you can spray on your clothes and put in the washer that will negate the effect of these UV brighteners and help your clothes to look more like you thought they did when you spent a car payments worth of cash on them.

I'd like to hear your thoughts on this.

Find me on Facebook "Christian Honolua" and I will ad you to our redneck page.

Went through a phase with my uncle where we tested some of this tuff with a black light. Supposedly whatever doesn't light up as bright is what you should wear.

Say what you will, but once I was 30' up a tree with my bow drawn
waiting for a good buck to step out from under some limbs. I was standing perfectly still. That buck looked up at me and turned around. I was totally camo'd he should have seen nothing. I think my camo was glowing. It has happened several times and I believe its true they see UV spectrum.

Have you ever walked up on some one in a stand? I can usually pick some one out of a tree from a 100yds away. There aren't a lot of things that occur naturally that look like a person standing on the side of a tree.

Me and my buddies always try and hide from each other and hardly ever spot one another till we would have been dead. But like the other poster, I have been seen a lot when I had great wind and no movement.

id definitely be interestd in what a deer biologist has to say on the subject, i would think they would have done plenty of studies of deer eyes. ive heard they are red green color blind, that blue spectrum is enhanced, and the uv thing, it would be nice to have the facts if they are known. i definitely have hundreds of dollars in white at night on camera camo, if it looks like that to the deer im a little unhappy to say the least, not suprised though.

But is that because they're glowing or somehow more visible to our eye, or because they're a horizontal blob of oddly shaped goo hanging on a vertical tree?

We'll never be completely odor-free. Ever. I don't think it hurts to try to do what you can to kill-reduce your scent, though. Same with the UV killer, like from Atsko.

Yes you can be seen, but deer usually dont go around looking 30' up a tree.

I've done a lot of hunting from the ground and I have no doubt deer know a blaze orange hat when they see it. I've had them come right by me turkey hunting and stalking with a bow without one on.

I've killed a majority of my deer wearing atleast some non camo clothing. Camo does not matter. Plain and simple. I almost never get picked off when I'm in a tree or blind. Heck I even sit in a chair in roadbeds and don't get picked off. Background cover and movement is what keeps you from being seen

Wear earth tones and be still. Wash them in something like Cheer Free and baking soda.

Don't know how much truth there is to this but I read somewhere a while back that blue jean / denim colored is something a deer can spot due to its colored spectrum in the uv field.

A deer can or can't spot blue jean/denim? For A deer to spot denim doesn't surprise me is why I ask.

The difference is the blue fabric shows up on the color spectrum differently than others, and has brighteners from detergent if you wash denim (or other clothing) in detergent with brighteners. Anything blingy or blue on a bow or gun has a glare but doesn't (supposedly) stand out like clothing.

I've been sitting on the ground wearing camo turkey hunting way too many times when a deer comes very close and act like nothing is there. If I was glowing I doubt i would have had this happen so many times.

This last turkey season, I was walking up a logging road in some 20-25 year pines. I look up in the distance and see a deer heading towards me on the road about a 100 yards away. I freeze and play like I'm a damn tree right in the middle of the road. Two more come out and all three keep coming. The lead deer gets to within 20 yds. They have looked up the road several times and haven't spooked. Finally they smell something they don't like and get a little nervous. They ease off the road into the woods but not in any real hurry. If they could see my camo this would not have happened.

Blaze orange?? I really do t know there. That comes off when I get up a tree.
