2009 Bama came in ranked #5 while va tech came in at #7.
2010 Bama was ranked #1 and Penn St was #18.
2011 Bama was ranked #3 and Penn St was #23
2012 Bama opened up at #2 while Michigan was ranked #8
2013 Bama came in at #1 and va tech was unranked
2014 Bama came in at #2 and wvu was unranked

Granted, the teams bama played didnt finish as high in the polls as they started but who knew exactly how each season would turn out? 2010 was a "down year" for Bama with 3 losses after starting out #1. Yet, they wound up #16 and played your #9 MSU team and destroyed them. Bama had the backups playing most of the 3rd quarter and all of the 4th. I guess the might Spartans were having a down year too, huh?

I guarantee you that Bama and/or Auburn will play more ranked teams this year than Michigan State will in any 3 years combined

Bama plays an opening game against a top opponent from a Power 5 conference every season. They have the toughest schedule in the nation this season. If you are going to troll at least make it intelligent.


Oh and 256.... Bama will open in 2016 with USC which will be a much higher marquee game than Bama beating the brakes off of Michigan State again.

I don't think much of Michigan State. But so far the last time FSU has played Bama or Auburn they have won. So I like our chances.

Bama was in the first year of a major rebuilding effort so no respect for the Noles on that win.

Like I said, Bama probably has one of the best non conference resume's in the country since Saban's arrival in 07. He plays those games in addition to the brutal SEC West gauntlet they run every season. Not everyone can play in a puss conference like the ACC and then schedule tough OOC games like the Texas State Bobcats, South Florida Bulls, and Chattanooga Mocs (FSU's 2015 OOC schedule).

That right there disqualifies you from talking smack about Alabama or Auburn regarding scheduling.

I don't believe strength of schedule makes a team better anymore than I believe running a bird dog thru a gauntlet of rattlesnakes makes him a better bird dog. If your good, then your good. Ohio St. had a weak schedule last year and ended up beating Bama, who had a tougher schedule. So what did having a tougher schedule prove? Nothing. I think that Bama only hurts themselves by playing a tougher schedule year end and year out. How many teams in the SEC are devastated by injuries every year and finish the season without reaching a once attainable goal? A lot. I see no problems playing all takers small or big every year. It's how well you finish that seems to matter, unless your in a tiny conference and get over looked. FSU will be ready for Bama in '17 and Auburn in '18. Guaranteed.

BTW, 6 of those 12 teams on your list are in the ACC.

I'm having a hard time following your point. First you said that Bama's MO was to take the easy road and back out of games against tough OOC opponents. Then when I destroyed that argument, now you are saying that scheduling tough OOC games is stupid and hurts you in the long run. Because when you are good you are good.

Yes, I am aware there are a lot of ACC teams on that list. They are still considered a Power 5 conference even if they are no more than a two team league and by far the weakest of all Power 5 conferences.

Snakes has nothing to do with. If a bird dog can find fifteen birds in a phone booth does that make him good. Or does finding the only bird in a fifty acre field make a dog better.

First point: (albeit a jab) Was that Bama backed out on a game(for whatever reason) with MSU(a nobody in NCAA football) and Auburn backed out on what would have been an outstanding game in the mid-90's with FSU.
Second point: If Bama plays other teams that are built to be just as physical as Bama week in and week out then Bama is flirting with losing key players to injury. So why do that? Ohio St. had a less physically demanding schedule and easily defeated Bama.
Third point: Ohio st. proved that if your good then you are good. It doesn't matter how many "big name" teams you play OOC a season. (Big name teams=traditionally big name)
Fourth point: Bama is gonna get their butt spanked opening weekend 2017!

Good thing Ohio state didn't have that tough ooc schedule. Couple more Virginia techs and they might not made a bowl game.

Also wouldn't say Ohio state "easily" beat Bama. They won by one td and had just over 100 yards more offense. If I remember correctly it was 21-6 at one point.
