I am going to be setting one up in the next week. We are off the grid no power or water. We have a generator, and are going to cover it with a billboard. How do you have yours set up? Clean Water supply in a 55gal drum or inboard tank? Solar panels for battery charger? External black water tank for emptying crapper? What do you do with the grey water? Do you have any set up tips or tricks? Thanks.

Well, we don't have to be set up like it anymore but years ago we had the same issue. We used batteries for electricity. We'd put one on the camper and one in the truck. Our property was about 7 miles from our camp so we'd have to drive back and forth which would charge the battery. Then we'd swap out batteries at night so a hot battery would be available for electricity. This was back before solar panels were either available or very popular. We had a 55 gallon drum set up on an elevated stand for clean water that gravity fed into the trailer. We had another 55 gallon drum buried for a septic tank, that the gray and black water fed into. Of course that is frowned upon now but that's how we used to do it.

I used Generator to charge battery in trailer when I got to the camp. Sometimes I'd run the Generator to watch TV when there is a good game on and that would also keep battery charged. Even running the Trailer Furnace all night long never hurt the battery. We would just dig a hole and run gray and sewage into it. Throw in some ridex septic cleaner and let it ride. After Westervelt said we could no longer do this and needed a septic system I bought these Portable Tote and hooked them up to the line and then dumped them at work, but I do work for a Water/Waste-water Utility, but any RV park will have a sanitary dump site if none are near call the Porta Potty guys and dump it with them. Water I just used the onboard storage tank and brought fresh water in a plastic drum.
Hunt'em hard when they are hard to hunt but never, ever hardly hunt!

Thanks for the tips and advice, we are going to put a little solar charger on for the battery. I figure we will need the generator for the ac or to run a tv. Looks like we need a 55gal drum and an external black water tank. How do you keep the water in the drum and tank from freezing when it gets cold?

you saw how i had my pop up set up in the forest. of course i dont leave it there when im not there. but like your talking no water or power. i carry water in with me. 20 gallons. i usually have to empty some of it out when i leave. as for power i have a coleman lantern for outside and in thhe pup i have battery powered lights i use along with a couple i use in the canopy outside. for a shower i have a battery powered shower. i heat up water in an old turkey fryer. put it behind the truck with a couple blocks of wood to stand on.if i am somewhere i cant take an outside shower i made a pvc frame to hang the shower enclosure inside the pup. word of advice dont just stick your hand in the water to test the temperature, use your whole arm and stir it up good. made that mistake at cades cove last year and the water was way too hot. was able to take a shower with WAY too hot water almost scalding. crazy woman took one after i did and she said it was a little too hot for her.after 15 minutes after i got done.
if i hadnt taken up hunting i might have became a juvenile delinquent or worst taken up GOLF

You can take a 12 volt bildge or a aerator pump and go to town on some water. Just drop it down in your tank. Pump it anywhere you want.
