I need some help. I've got three small girls who continually beg me to take them fishing. My only trouble is that I don't have a good lake/pond to take them to. When I was growing up in West Alabama, there were many good, public lakes where a kid could catch all the fish they wanted. Now everything is private, members only. I live in Northport. We tried Lake Lurleen last year and it was a miserable experience. Two hours fishing from the bank with crickets and cane poles didn't even net us one bream.

I would even be willing to pay a reasonable amount of money to fish. Does anyone know where I could take my kids within an hours drive of Tuscaloosa where they could have a great time catching bream? Thanks!

Check out Bibb County lake.

I'd try bibb county lake or there's a pay catfish pond close to bibb county lake

We will burn that bridge when we get there

Go north on 43 until 100 yards before you get to the bridge at the Hwy 43 boat launch. Take a left on the paved road and follow it around until you see cattails on your right. Park there. There's a creek running into the lake there and the bass were always active there. Not big, but big enough to have fun.
