Does anyone know if there are any big hunting clubs that run dogs left in eclectic. My grandad used to be in a club there and I would love to try to join the one he was in. I'm not sure what the name of it was but I know is was a popular one in that area.

It was probably Dixie but they quit dog hunting a long time ago.

Caught a bunch of dogs up for Dixie. Kinda liked it when they turned loose. I had an excellent stand when they did turn em out.

Take that back I believe that it was called the Marbury woods.

All I can remember about that place is the cabin and that they had a big BBQ for the whole town every year.

I was wondering what an electric dog was. Read that too fast.

stackofwashers, I think you club you are talking about was Chainahatchee Creek HC (I'm sure i spelled it wrong). Their old club land might be some of the forever wild land now. Seems like I remember something along those lines happening some years ago.

oakachoy, the Marbury Woods was one of the hunts Dixie made. Sometimes the dogs did get across at Parker Creek and make it into Coosa County. I had a collar sent back to me from one of my dogs that was found dead on the Covered Bridge Road. Never did find out what happened. Btw, isn't that Oakachoy Creek that the covered bridge was over?

Close...its channahatchee And you are correct most of the land that they hunted is the yates lake forever wild property. As far as i know they dont have any more land to run on. Some of the old members still own the club house and hang out there from time to time. There was also a club that closer to the city limits that was called shores. They are gone also.

My club runs dogs. Probably one hour from Eclectic. Just outside Goodwater.

Ok thanks for the info. If anyone knows of any openings for a dog club and the prices are not that expensive plese let me know I would love to take my boys on some dog hunts just so they can get that experience. I killed my first 8 point on a dog hunt with my grandad. I had a blast. I live why up nort in madison count al so I can't show them what that experience is like up here.

You are correct, seeing as how your back door opens into the Marbury Woods!

Frogeye, you're right. Oakachoy covered bridge was burned down by some teenagers that thought it would be cool to burn a fire in the middle.
