Guys I hate to keep asking for help but these kids of mine, being on the fishing team, are wearing me out. One good thing is that we are fishing alot of different lakes, many of which I have never been on. They have a tournament coming up on Lake Tuscaloosa in a couple of weeks. My son and I went down yesterday and fished around Binon creek then up the North River and the other creek that splits off at the mouth of North River. Found some great looking spots but could not put a pattern together. Water temp 43-44 degrees, scattered fish holding in 18 - 30 feet. Nothing that I felt confident that we could get 5 keepers. Going back again next saturday to practice again. Any help appreciated.

Throw a square bill around the edge of the grass and a swim jig up in it. I've caught them on those two baits up there while it was so cold my rod guides were freezing up. I wore the bass out about a week ago on a crappie jig in the grass

We will burn that bridge when we get there

Next week water temps will be up 5 degrees from where they are now. Fish may start moving shallower by then.

Water was almost 50 on the upper end of the lake today. Caught a couple of nice spots long lining a road runner for crappie around the 43 bridge

You might catch the clap on lake tuscaloosa. I'd try wobblin' a deep diving threadfin shad or blueback herring colored crankbait around drop offs and submerged timber. Pull the crankbait/rattletrap in the same direction as the wind. I just made all that up sitting on my couch, so if it works let me know.

I always fished Tuscaloosa like I fished Smith, DEEP with shakey heads and a black/purple PJ jig on the bluffs.
