Came across a thread about it on forum where a guy was having problems with it and fixed it. Apparently the drivers side valve covers has the hole for the PCV valve directly above a rocker arm that allowed for a constant spray of oil into it. Looking in his intake plenum, found it soaked with oil. There is an updated valve cover that has a baffle covering it.

For 2007-2008 GM # 12570427
For 2009-2011 GM # 12642655 They run ~$80-90.

ive got a 07 New Body and I got the warning today. I just keep a few quarts in my toolbox and add when it starts to get low. I may start using the lucas oil treatment soon though and see if that helps

Why not just fix it?

Does it go back to the 02's? Not a chevy guy, but have one now. Bout 2500 mi into an oil change and it was 2 quarts low? No leak spots anywhere and no smoking?

The harder I practice, the luckier I get.

I had an 07 and it used a quart every 2000 miles. Chevy said that was their acceptable specs. Now some other poor soul has it and im driving a ford.

Just got rid of a 2010 Equinox that had less than 50K on it becuase it was using a lot of oil (Let the dealership deal whith the TSB). We got a TSB on it from GM saying it was a known issue and that it might require new rings to repair the issue. I'm used to putting over 300k on my Fords, so issues of this magnitude with only 30k miles on it was not acceptable. That was my first and last Chevy (other than my 75 Laguna S3 Super Sport). My wife is back in a Ford now...

I had an 06 that would burn a quart or better between changes. Did not seem to affect anything else. Did not smoke or foul plugs. Sold it with 175000 miles on it - ran fine.

I have a 2007 GMC and right now it is consuming 4 quarts every 5,000 miles. Started at 50,000 miles and I've got 140K on it now. Runs fine, just have to add oil every other week.

Had it at Royal GMC when it started and they did all kinds of monitoring and tests but would never fix it.

Gonna check out the recommended fix.

And while we are on the Fords better and not "government motors rant"

They got bailed out as well, it just wasn't called a bail out. I don't have the link anymore, but it was shown that Ford received more government money than GM and Chrysler put together if you figure in what Ford got from oversees governments. It bugs the hell out of me that Ford got a pass and credited for not taking a bailout when in fact they got MORE than the other 2 did.
