I'm trying to find schedules for the opening/closure of the Skyline WMA gates and have struck out. In particular I want to find out when Little Coon Creek gate is opened and closed. Thought I'd try here before I called Frank, he's hard to get ahold of ...

I think it's open October 1 - April 30. I know they will be open until April 30

What exactly do you want to know. Just closing dates?

Opening and closing ... I want to know when I can drive my truck up the road. I'd like to spend some time hiking the area in the spring/summer/fall for the sake of learning the territory better. I spent a good bit of time there this season and I think it is absolutely a beautiful place

There's a list of skyline road closures on their website under "where to hunt", then under the wmas. Has a list if them.

If they are closed for the turkey research, they will be closed until further information is given. I am not sure there is a timeline on it. I will check.

Just a place I try and go shoot a jake every year before Bankhead opens. Bankhead is where the good gobbling birds are.

I talked to one of the guys that works the WMA last night and he said that they would open them back up for turkey season. He said this was a 5-year research project. Once season is over, they will resume attempting to catch and tag.
