We have been thinking of planting some corn in a few of our plots for the first time. We want to be able to hunt over it in the fall/winter. Have we missed the window for planting this year? I have tried to research as much as I can but I am still not clear on it. It looks like the best time for planting has passed.

End of May is the latest I will plant corn. If you can't get it ready by then, I might look at soybeans.

If you're not looking at making 125 bu/acre...or worried about how much the worms are gonna eat...then, you can plant like mackdaddy said...thru mid june.

The harder I practice, the luckier I get.

Heck the question should be ......Can I plant corn yet? We would have had a frost two nights ago had the wind not blown. 38 degrees in May is cold!!!

I planted mine the first week of May last year and the deer ate nearly every grain of it before bow season came in. I'm planning to get the ground ready this weekend and plant it next weekend.

I have planted tropical corn the last week in July and had reasonably good results. I've had great results planting it the first week of June. Not sure how this RR corn is gonna do planting this late, but we will find out.

last two years we've planted first week of June in Jackson Co. Not intentionally, just the way it worked out. Both years it did really well, but probably have a little more time up there than further south.

I just went back and looked at my pics from last year. We planted RR late, in June, and it produced. We didn't mean to wait that late, but we missed our planned date and then waited on rain.

I planted some last week and am going to plant another 3 acres this afternoon! The first week of May was my goal for planting but all my fields were too wet!
