Born and raised in West Alabama. I have always hated hot weather. Of course, anything over 40 degrees is too hot for me.

Born and raised in Jackson co. I've lived within a 10 mile circle my whole life. Dad is from Indiana and mom is from alabama.
I can handle the heat, but it doesn't mean i like it.

Born here, lived in Auburn for 3 years, then Troy for 7 years, then moved back home in 2000. I'm 5th generation Alabamian. GGGrandaddy fought in the War of Northern Aggression. He was wounded in 3 different battles and still stayed until it was over. He stacked arms with Lee at Appomattox.
I don't like the heat up here, but can handle working in it every day. The heat in Troy was different hot. I never did get use to that. The last week I lived in Troy, the heat index was between 115 and 120 each day.

Born in Clanton and raised between there and St. Clair County. From birth until my late thirties the heat never bothered me. I hit the floor running as a kid and spent entire days running the woods and fields wearing blue jeans and tennis shoes and no shirt, no hat. I wore sweat like a shirt without any thought of it. My skin from the waist up was tanned and tough as worn cow hide. It's what I did...I didn't know any better.
From my late thirties until today I suppose I've gotten soft and feel the heat. Don't like it but adore the fall and winter.
The hottest I've ever been was a couple of years stationed at England Air Force Base in Alexandria Lousiana. The humidity there felt like it had it's hands around your neck choking the life outta ya.
I live in the Panhandle of Florida now. Most of us refer to it as just another part of lower Alabama and would prefer to be repatriated into Bama. Freed from the rest of this liberal state.
I absolutely love my home state and very proud to be from Alabama.

The heat thread made me start thinking about how many of us on here are native to Alabama and how many are displaced Yankees.
Myself, I was born here and lived In North Alabama all of my life. I still whine about the heat. Fat boys tend to do that. My folks have been in the south for at least 8 generations. That's as far back as I know of.
What about Ya'll? Born and raised in West Virginia. We have four seasons. Driving in a foot of snow isn't uncommon. I love the cold (probably called bitter cold by some here), hate the heat. But after joining the USAF and spending 7 years in Fayetteville, NC (which is hotter than N. Alabama), I learned you can hide from the heat or just whip it. Heat and cold is just a state of mind. You can choose it or run from it. Vegas in July is hot. Kuwait/Saudi Arabia is a blow dryer.

Native, other than the 10 months I lived in Phoenix when they had the hottest summer on record by about two degrees.

Born in Jackson Co. I'm the 3rd generation to live on this farm. Some of my white and red relatives were here ( Woodville area) before Alabama became a state, I think I qualify.
Alabama heat is what makes us tough.
