Wow, I never knew we had so many cooler experts on here. I have a Yeti. Got the roadie model as a gift. Does it hold ice longer? Yes. Is it made better? Yes. Is it heavier than the cheap coolers? Yes. Is it worth the higher price? That depends on what you are wanting. If filling a cooler every day with ice is not a bother and you don't mind buying a new cooler every once in a while, just buy an igloo, coleman or something like that. They are lighter and will keep ice for a day just fine. However, if refilling your cooler every day is a pain in the butt or simply not practical for your situation - i.e. long trips in remote locations, buy a Yeti because it will most certainly keep your ice longer than the cheap coolers will. Either way, I don't care what brand cooler anybody has. It's no different than the kind of bow you shoot or the truck you drive - all personal preference and exactly why they make different products to begin with.

I dont know whats in them things but I had a bottle of water that had fell in between my seats. I found it and threw it in Josh's Yeti in the boat on our way out to fish. About an hour later it was frozen solid again.
On the Eighth day God created flounder.

About an hour later it was frozen solid again. I know what you mean. I have had to leave my lid open the last 2 days just so my beer didn't freeze. Finally able to close the lid but had to move the cooler out of the shade. Not for sure but it think my yeti has that special insulation

Common sense. Why would you cut the market price if you can get the same prices? The profit on the Yeti has to be INCREDIBLE. If the profit margin is so high, why aren't their competitors beating their price by hundreds? All the competitors' products I've seen can beat Yeti's price by $50 to $75 or so. I imagine a big chunk of the $50 to $75 goes to pay for marketing. Yeti advertises in every magazine, TV show and everywhere else. The reality is that they are molded one at a time and the process likely isn't automated. There aren't robots molding coolers 24/7 to lower the prices. Even if you buy more of the expensive molds, you have to hire more workers to use them. Yeti's margin is likely higher than their competition because of the price but not by leaps and bounds. I have had a cooler in the back of my truck since I started driving. Bought me the 65 Yeti a couple of years ago as an investment. Have numerous old coolers in my shed with broken this or that.
So far like the Yeti. But I did buy it before all the other brands came out. So can't say which is better, but love mine.
**Disclaimer*** No Yeti sticker or hat.
Life is a journey. Make sure and bring plenty of Beer.
My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.

I bought a Tan 50qt. on Monday. It came with two YETI stickers so I feel it was worth $400!
