Looking at both the 9 and 45. Anyone have any input?

I have the 45. The only thing I don't like is the fiber optic sights. I love the feel of this pistol.

45ACP here. grip doesn't feel as comfortable as original full size/double stack XD, IMO. Easier to hang onto XDS with extended mag, but that makes the XDS harder to conceal.

The 9 XDS weighs a little more than the 45. A few more rounds in the 9 magazine, but not enough to choose it over the 45 for me.

Overall, I really like it. Not many other 45's that are great concealed carry guns. The XDS is. I have a CrossBreed MiniTuck IWB holster for the XDS, and works well--kind of like the supertuck with combat cut feature added. Factory cheap plastic OWB holster works well with sports coat.

I bought one of the first 45's to hit Birmingham stores when they first came out..
Ive put about 1500 rds thru mine with out any problems. Nice and flat and easy to conceal. recoil is not bad. Less recoil than my PF9.

Have XDs 45. Crossbreed Supertuck type holster. LIke the gun and holster works great too.

I actually like the shorter grip length. I am very used to shooting SA revolvers and having my little finger under the grip. Same as the XDs for me.

I will admit I have to concentrate a little more to hit center of mass with it than a 1911, but it is WAY more easy to carry/conceal than a 1911.

Had no failures with mine. And it will also feed a 200 grn LSWC. Shoots well with full house loads (5.0 grns Bullseye behind the 200 LSWC).

And it is VERY comfortable having a 45!

Have y'all tried the Alien Gear holsters? I think I'm about to order one for my XDS 45.

I think the xds is too heavy for what it is. The xdm and xd aren't much bigger and have twice the ammo. My G26 loaded weighs the same as the xds loaded with several more rounds. I actually prefer the kahr 9 at 15 oz.. I love Springfield products, I just wish they could have shaved a little weight off the xds. Lots of people do have them and like them though.

I like mine, it's been flawless before and after the recall.

IF you are comparing the XDs in 9mm to 9mm - I probably wouldn't disagree with you.

But for a 45 ACP, think I would take a small bit of issue with your assessment. Have carried a few diff 45s, and so far like this one the best for carry!
