Lol yea ill take what I can get

Guys I shoulda had one this morning. Had three fired up and the got hung up. I've hunted these birds hard and can never get them to cross a creek and we don't have enough land on the other side of the creek to get on there with them so I got up and started walking off and left my old man sitting there. After 30 mins of solid cutting and cackling on a mouth call they couldn't stand it no more and came across. Dad killed a two year old with a paintbrush 10" beard. 19 lbs. I would love to kill at least one this year but if I could call In his last three for him id do it in a heartbeat. Ain't nothing like seeing his face when I get to him.

Start me another little four day sprint tomorrow.

Working tonight, plan to ride up to the forest tomorrow and listen but won't be able to make it until 730-8.
Then head to the club for the next 3 days.

Well, I can't get across the creek to my happy little hunting ground. Guess I'll run ridges today cause all the bottoms are flooded. Not starting out real good, but it beats workin.

I'll be back out there this weekend. Maybe I'll seal the deal on one or two...

Couldnt get to my normal spot this morning because of water so I tried another. Heard some birds far off so I drove back to camp & signed out for an area I've never hunted. Got off the buggy at 930 & walked out on a loading deck just to look around. A hawk flew over & screeched and he gobbled bout 100yards out. Tried callin him up the ridge but he hung up about 50 yards out. It was so thick I couldn't even see him but I could hear him spitting & drumming. He finally moved & I knew he was heading for the edge of the cutover. Well he beat me there but I crawled down the log road cluckin & purring on my mouth call & scratching leaves. I made it to the blowdown you can see over my shoulder in the pick and raised up on one knee. I could see tips of his tail fan bout 30 yards out. Couldn't get a shot but after just a minute of silence he broke strut and walked right to me. Maybe a 15 yard shot.

He won't score good cause he has bad beard rot. But he sure was fun and in fire.
