I would get 7mm-08 just for its versatility over the .243 in the rifle you are getting. .243 makes a good dual purpose deer/varmit but you can't shoot heavy bullets. But in a mountain rifle 7-08 all day long. You could even Elk hunt with it if you fall in love with the gun. If you are leaning more towards a varmit rifle not sure the Montana is what I'd opt for.
