Guys it seems like we've had some good hatches the past couple of years because I have seen way more turkeys this deer season than in the past;I usually see turkeys a few times during deer season but this year I have seen them every single time I've been no matter where I go on our club.Have any of yall noticed more turkeys on your land this past deer season or am I just lucky to have more birds this year in my area?

On our club land we have been seeing a lot more turkeys than usual. I hope things are beginning to turn around for us, been down for us the past few years.

It could be better hatches than in years past. It could also be related to timber management on surrounding land. If some land was clearcut within a few miles, it may have driven more birds to your place. Folks often don't account for land management practices on their game sightings. Unless you have thousands of acres, your neighbors have a lot of influence on what you see and what you don't.

Very true from what I have found over the years. Surrounding land owners have crippled me by clearcutting before. The first couple of years is ok usually and turkeys love to use the clear cut. I have had more birds the first year or two than any other time before. It then gets to thick for a few years and almost impassble by a bird and they move away from it except maybe a few nexting hens. It will get better as it opens up and they use it again, but it takes a few years.

Some land was cut right up the bottom from me last year, they cut during turkey season.

We had good numbers last year.

No clearcutting close by;we have around 3000 acres and I have hunted this land for 25 years and my dad has hunted it his whole life and there is just way more birds this year than in years past;I don't think it's land management as much as I do just the birds have raised good for a few years.I'm not complaing either way.

I'd be the best member ya'll could pick up. This is my first year turkey hunting and I live a few hours away. I am going to bow hunt only from here on out and not use a blind.
