It could be better hatches than in years past. It could also be related to timber management on surrounding land. If some land was clearcut within a few miles, it may have driven more birds to your place. Folks often don't account for land management practices on their game sightings. Unless you have thousands of acres, your neighbors have a lot of influence on what you see and what you don't.

Unless you have thousands of acres, your neighbors have a lot of influence on what you see and what you don't. Very true from what I have found over the years. Surrounding land owners have crippled me by clearcutting before. The first couple of years is ok usually and turkeys love to use the clear cut. I have had more birds the first year or two than any other time before. It then gets to thick for a few years and almost impassble by a bird and they move away from it except maybe a few nexting hens. It will get better as it opens up and they use it again, but it takes a few years.

Some land was cut right up the bottom from me last year, they cut during turkey season.
We had good numbers last year.
Do you want to hear him gobble, or do you want to kill him.

Well sounds like you might need a couple new members.

I'd be the best member ya'll could pick up. This is my first year turkey hunting and I live a few hours away. I am going to bow hunt only from here on out and not use a blind.
