I had been hunting all week back in January. On my way home from all day hunt I started smelling something burning. I drive diesel Ford so I stopped several times on way home to check truck. Smell kept getting worse but no smoke. When I arrived home I was unloading my truck and pulled my Browning A Bolt 30-06 out and discovered. Under my hunting cloths was a 6 volt battery when rifle was laid in truck after hunt the lug for the sling pushed both springs on battery together. It melted the lug out of gun and made half dollar sized hole and probably 1/2 in deep. I had to get glove to get it out of truck it was still to hot to handle 15 minutes later. 30 minutes it was still warm. I had old pair Kane chaps to cover hole up and plan to patch soon since season is over.
