Didn't want to hijack another thread, but something EarlPitts said reminded me. I've heard several people blame feeding corn as the culprit of low deer sightings this season. What's yall's opinions on deer becoming nocturnal due to corn? I'm interested to hear the basis of these theories.

If you put a peckerhead sitting on top of it every time they come it probably would.

The people whos blaming corn on low deer sighting dont have corn out.All the deer are on their neighbors property rolling in his cornpile during the day and have no reason to come to the property with no corn.Duh

Well I guess that settles it. Have not pressured the deer so I need lots of corn on the ground and I'm set.

if you walk around them every 3 or 4 days like you were throwing corn out then it is very possible

I believe tube type,or gravity type feeders could cause them to go nocturnal.Feed is available all of the time.
But broadcast feeders that you set the timers for when you want them to come on would be the way to go.

you are so scared of corn feeders you would think it was the black plaque!! Corn has nothing to do with anything but bad hunters and laziness. Hunted over corn for years deer sightings go up and first and then go down over time!!

I don't think that deer sighting or day movement is lower this year, I've seen more deer this year then most years, just can't seem to get on a mature buck. Human pressure is the biggest mistake. Respect the deers nose and it will help.

Pressure

A lot of 'lazy' hunters putting out corn and walking around and actually hunting over, not paying attention to wind or scent control or approach routes, etc leads to the theory.

There is ALWAYS food available!!!!!!!

Now Come on Guys We all know Corn tastes better under the romantic glow of the moonlight. It has nothing to do with the guy checking his feeder every 2 days and checking his camera everyday.

The deer at the house eat in the greenfield till after dark then go visit the corn pile.

If corn feeders made deer nocturnal, you would never see one in the daylight in the entire state of Texas, and Texas is a big state.

Wow man you really are stirring the pot these days, the other day it was a cull thread and now the infamous corn thread. Lol

It isn't necessary to see a good tackle...you can hear it.
