Am new to the site, and relatively new to Alabama. Grew up in the mountains of VA and WV, hunting them for 30+ years. Also spent 5 years in southern NC hunting swamp deer. Way different hunting. One thing I will say about hunting mountain deer is that it is NOT predictable! Look for food, cover, and water, and hunt funnels/pinch points. And be prepared to be in the woods all day! You may not see a thing, but don't get discouraged. The next day a wall hanger could show up!
