Awesome! I bet you guys were rocking that place.

I have a buddy that is a huge Auburn fan. Today is his birthday and he went to the game. I know he is thrilled for sure!

49-42 Bama, 49-45 Auburn. Might have a good Iron Bowl this year. Good victory for the Tigers. That doesnt mean anything but it does mean AU is a damn lot better than they were last year. AU isn't any better than last year, they have a coach that recruited those players to play in his system. The previous coach tried putting a square peg into a pig's butt hole and the team gave up on them last year. This is the same team that quit last year, if they end up getting punched in the face this year we will see what kind of team they are.

Some of that's true but the win they got today puts they're confidence level into orbit.

Ian, I think you helped support the point made about Malzahn's abilities. A good coach makes the best out of what is available to him. Granted in this situation, Malzahn had a hand in the recruitment and system that was in place during Chizik's final year. Gus had a bit of an upper hand over someone walking into a program fresh off the street. I guess old Jay Jacobs ain't such a turd after all, huh?
All in right with the world this year as long as they win 4 or more. We will find out more as the season progresses. I think a one loss AU might be playing an undefeated UA this year fellas.

wonder what Gus would do if Texas or Florida came a calling in the off season? No tellin', I'm sure AU would match their offers though, at least this week.

wonder what Gus would do if Texas or Florida came a calling in the off season? I don't believe FL will be calling anyone and no way would TX be interested in Gus.

That's the dumbest post I've read in the sports forum today. you can't argue you East Alabama Mens College losers quit last year. you cant argue that it's still the same shell of a team that quit last year, and can still do it this year if things get rough. You can't argue that the roster is full of Gus's guys and it's not like he went to a completely new program and everyone had to learn a whole new system. last years OC ruined Tebows chances in the NFL, and made a high school defense look all sec last year with that offense that he called.

Fur, why don't you shed some light on where you think AU is and what contributed to their success in lieu of last year?

Fur, why don't you shed some light on where you think AU is and what contributed to their success in lieu of last year? I'll answer your question with a question. What do you think contributed to Alabamas moderate success as compared to the previous administration the first year Saban was hired?

Respect and Motivation
Auburn players had the talent but not respect for Chizik thus the lack of motivation. Gus, has the players respect and they would fight to the death for that man. They also learned to tackle somewhat between this season and last.

It takes time for a new system to become embedded and effective. Once CNS was able to get his process implemented, the right players recruited well, the results speak for themselves. Shula was a lame duck coach who got ran over by the players and boosters. He filled a void and took a hit by doing so. Good on him but I'm glad he is gone.
My point was that you are killing Ian's post, but not offering an alternative perspective. I'm interested to know your thoughts instead of some simple "that's stupid" response.

Heard them say that Ellis set out to keep the defense fresh late in the game by subbing strongly throughout the game. I thought that was a great decision/plan. I guess it worked out for them too. Respect and Motivation
