Like others have said, I've had to put a smoke down to shoot a deer with a bow at 25yds. Also my biggest buck to date was 1 minute after having a smoke and I shot him at less than 25yds.

The buck in my avatar was killed while bow hunting. At the time I was a heavy smoker and had one lit when he stepped in range. He was down wind from me and 3 others had already crossed the same trail. I was in huge wash out and the smoke was just hanging around that day. IMO deer smell smoke often from brush fires, fire places, camp fires, and any other type of fire. Just never seemed to bother them from what I've seen.

Skoal straight does not effect them at all. I've actually spit on a few deer. LOL! I actually think it is a cover scent.

Same here for the last 20 years but always in the back of my mind I am thinking a true monster will come close and before can draw my bow he takes a whiff off my dip stream then blow's out and I never see him again! shocked

Killed plenty while dipping and spitting on ground.
