I need to build a bridge on my place to cross a ditch that is about 10'-12' wide and it is about 4'-5' deep.
Bridge will need to be 20' long so that I have 4' on both sides of the ditch resting on the bank.
I have priced treated 6" x 6" x 20" and treated 2" x 6" boards for decking it.
If I buy this stuff new I'll have $500.00 in this bridge. Way more money than I wanted to put into a 4 wheeler bridge.
I have tried to find some 20' utility poles but have been unsuccessful thus far.
Any ideas on anything else I could use to build this bridge that would be more cost effective?
I want it to last a long time and all it will be use for is a 4 wheeler crossing on it.

All terrain bridge. Probably not the cheapest route, but they're nice bridges.

tree bridges for four wheelers work good but you still have to deck them and move them into the proper position, also they are not treated so they only last a few years before they rot out.

Build up a dirt mound, smooth one side, get a running start and jump it.

Check with your power company and see if they have any old poles they've pulled and brought in.
I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

We have used steel cattle gates before on short ditches. I don't know if It would work in that length without welding two together then brace it with some flat bar and angle iron. Should be a lot cheaper even with the modifications for the 4 wheeler tires and the bracing.

I went the 6x6 and 2x6 route at our lease and works great. I used 3 6x6.

I have always used trees, except on some shorter ones here at the house I used cross ties. just dig a trench for them to lay in on each side & no need to tie them together. dont understand why you'd need to deck them either really. I never have & they work fine. you'd be surprised how long they will last. great part is when they do get soft it doesnt cost anything to fix them except a couple hours of time with a saw & thats like free therapy anyway.
Go with the flow and you will end up down the drain!

Some trees and pallets or 2x6 and pallets

A friend of mine used to use old 18 wheeler trailers. They were mostly for trucks to drive over but you could use them as 4-wheeler bridges too. They can be bought in lengths anywhere from 20'-45', and they last forever. He also drug them in place with a tractor.

Yep, a couple of switch ties and treated decking would do it.

Dig the bank out and drive through the water. Costed $3.85 in diesel fuel for the tractor.
