it's not too bad. I would say 1 1/2 hrs at the most. You do not have to do it all in one sitting. it is in segments so you can stop at certian spots and log back in to finish.
Mostly general knowledge questions... Unless they have updated in the last couple of years. That's what I was looking for...our schedule is all jacked up and time is an issue...he has to have it by next weekend...thanks!

remember to take the paperwork with you go to the field day. It's my understanding that recent changes did away with the field day requirement for the all online course option. It might be a good idea to call and verify. *Now there is a new opportunity for obtaining your hunter education certification - an ALL ONLINE option. The online courses feature the best hunting safety videos available, along with interactive learning excercises and games, and comprehensive hunter education content to provide you with the knowledge and skills necessary to become a safe and responsible hunter. The internet course providers do charge a fee for the online option. DCNR Hunter Ed page *** click here ***

http://www.hunter-ed.com/Alabama/I checked and it looks like they have updated the system. It says you can take the internet course without the field day now but the catch is the $24.50 fee. It says after taking the course you can print out your certificate. Outdoor Alabama shows 3 approved sites to use. Hope this helps I seen that earlier...just didn't know how long they took to take...thanks!

Got to be honest a lot of people still need the field training.. Some don't get it @ home anymore, when wife got hers little while back some were trying to put rifle shells in shotguns! & worse...
Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many!

I took the test 3 weeks ago and if you do it correctly it will take 5.5 hours. If you just blow through it 1.5 hours. It's not that easy! Im 37 years old , just need it in other states.

As of September 1st you can now take the entire hunter ed class online without having to go to a field day. There will still be a few traditional classes statewide on an as needed basis. The traditional class is basicly a 3 day classroom setting. The online class only costs 9.95 of which the DCNR gets no money for. Basicly the DCNR is using a program that was already out there instead of having to make their own. That's the reason for the 9.95 fee. There are also two 24.00 classes listed on the website. Choose the 9.95 class. Basicly the DCNR got a bunch of free Hunter Ed dvd's to give out in the past for allowing the other courses to be available through DCNR's website.
