I know some say smoking hurts your sent and some says no. What bout snuff, dip or chew. I dip and wonder if it affects my hunt. Just for the record I stopped smoking 2 years ago and I have seen killed less deer since I quit smoking. Anyway what bout dip.

I can probably say without fear of being wrong that every single deer I have killed has been killed while I was dipping Copenhagen.

I have killed several deer with a bow with a cigarette in my lips or had to put it out to shoot.

If I don't take an empty bottle I spit down on the ground, have killed my 3 biggest buck last year while doing this

Don't overthink it. Just hunt.

Had a friend at West Colbert that was hunting a particular buck. Would go early, shower, clothes de-scented, careful entry/exit, etc. Saw the deer several times but had no shot. Deer was killed mid-season when the club president, dressed in his clothes from work that day, sat on a rock smoking a cigarette. FWIW.

Who knows for sure to bad you cant ask the deer.

If the wind is right, you can smear yourself with dog poop and it won't matter. Thinking hunter-wary deer won't avoid human-related smells (cigarette smoke, dip, etc.) is total foolishness, but it all comes down to whether they smell it or not. And if they smell the smoke/dip, they've already smelled you too, so the jig is already up.

Guys, if they are going to smell your tobacco, they've already smelled you. This idiot friend of mine came down from his stand and went home one time because he had gas and was farting in his tree stand, and didn't want to disturb his area. Bottom line is, if your scent plume is making it to a deers nose, he's gone, smoking, dipping, or farting has nothing to do with it. Movement from dipping or smoking, probably causes more problems than most rely.

I dip and have never took a spit bottle to the stand with me.I have had deer come under my stand and smell the ground where i have been spitting and or pissing.Never have any of em spooked from it.Every single deer i have ever killed i had a dip in my mouth with a pile of spit on the ground under me.
