I haven't seen anything, but you can bet it will be high.
I wish they would allow us to trap coons year round. The places I hog hunt are covered in them.

the only thing i have found is on beaver which stated that bama has 1.6 million plus beaver, alot depends on the denning, food aad water source. heck i would give any thing to have a good coon population in my area, my coon meat customers are killing me. i get calls were some wants a 100 at a time and at $5.00 to $10.00 (just for the meat) adds up real quick

first off if you have a small paper outlet like as a a example here we have the traders helper and clanton has the mule trader .put a add in it.a foot must be left own and it has to be skinned and gutted ,(also save the pecker bone they sale as well). do this during the summer, keep the numbers in a small note book. before long that book will get huge.
i only trap cats and greys now with the exception for beaver and yote adc jobs due to having a pacemaker.
let me get with a couple of my buyers and if they give me the ok i will pm you thier number elkhunter.you can work up a deal with them as for price , delivery or pick up
now my prices depend on how many coon they want as a a example
1-3 coon 10.00 each 4-8 coon 7.00 each 9 and up 5.00 each
oecker bones unclean 5.00 each pecer bones cleaned 12.00 each
muskrat meat 1.00 each (small market) beaver meat 5.00 each (fair market) possum meat 2.00 each (small market)

Can anyone sell raccoon meat? Any special licenses? I've always wondered about this but thought that you couldn't do it.

yes from what I found out any one can sale coon meat no special licenses needed just a hunting or trapping license how ever one foot needs to stay on, that way your customer knows it is a coon and not a dog and yes I have heard of some guys saling dog meat lol
right now I have some customers working on putting to gather large orders for nov
nearlywild you have a good meat market location go a cross the bridge to Columbus georgia and put a add in the paper with you address and contact number , now you can not sale meat in the state of Georgia how ever they can come to you and buy as long as you don't take meat over the bridge. they can but you can not in other words all sales has to be done in bama,

Who are they selling to? Restaurants, grocery stores, individuals?

in fla some guys sale to fish markets from what I have seen and heard, like I said Georgia it is illegal to sale coon meat so them guys can not sale legal how ever bama and miss we sale to indivuals as far as I know there is no restaurants that can sale coon mean .
now what I have is what I call a buddy system were I give them a price break or a few free ones for evey customer they bring me or for every hundred they sale
how this works is they bring a customer to me and work up a deal for both party or they collect the money for the amount of coon they need and deliver to their customers , mow I think what is happening these guys are buying and resale because there is no way any one can eat 100 coon in a week or in fact a month .
the three hot times to sale will be nov (thanksgiving) dec (Christmas) and (new years) then you will have customers that will have big cook outs were they drink bear and eat coon
the most important thing to do is place a add in the news paper and take preseason orders by doing this you know first hand what how many you will need , now when I make the I add my trapping lies number and I make it clear I am not saling coon till season starts
example
preorder your coon and ,beaver meat for 2013 to 2014 season also have dried clean coon peckers trapping lie xxxxxxxxxx Edward bevels 256 369 1440
now the trick is to keep every number and name of the person that calls you even if they only buy one coon because each customer you keep happy ,will send more customers and before long you will be like me needing more coon then you can catch
now some will eat beaver meat but most of the beaver meat is bought due to the high protein from the red meat of beaver and makes cheap dog food for hunting dogs
then there is the market for beaver tails which don't bring a lot just a buck or two each , these tails makes a great chew toys for a pup and full of protein but that's not the only thing that beaver tails are good for , one of the best things to make cat ,fox and yote lure from. I buy several thousands of beaver tails just to make lure from for my lure business and I also have other lure companys that needs these tails as well
ok example coons meat 10 a day that's $50 to $100 a day how much gas and dog food will that pay for ?
as a professional trapper and lure formation teacher and making my living off of what god gave us I have to use every resource that we have and as long as it is legal
if you or any one wants to call me that is my number in the example add in this post

I had heard that but thought they were joking. I think every coon i caught this year was a male. I have a bunch of them in the skinning shed. I might be sitting on a gold mine of coon pecker toothpicks. . Roflmao!
