If someones whole life revolves around receiving recognition from others then it stands to reason they would want to minimize others to elevate your own achievements.

The OP of this thread was to see how others thought about the act of making up a trophy and claiming it. Which happens alot with Whitetail Deer Bucks.

I was watching the news and there was a picture of Lance Armstrong laying on his couch and surrounding him on the walls were Framed Yellow Jerseys, one from each Tour De France "Fake Win". I was instantly embarrassed for him. How could someone cheat and then surround themselves with False Trophies to admire in their very own home. It was Extremely Gross to me.

Then I thought....Well there are alot of bucks that are mounted in much the same manner. So i posted my thoughts in order to read your thoughts.

No Worry here.....Just a lack of Understanding and a will to learn from others in the way they think, in order to test my opinion.

I have one buck mounted in my trophy room that I didn't kill, a beautiful 135" eight point, in velvet. It's also the only one I didn't mount. It was done by Joel Stone in Leeds and it won second place in the World Taxidermy show several years ago. I don't tell folks I killed it.....

I have never been a Game Warden, but I have to think that the "Assholes" would be second to my issue of walking around in the woods in hunting season wearing the color uniform they wear. God Bless all Game Wardens, but I ain't gonna lie....... I couldn't do it.

Who picked out their colors?

the colors ain't bad, course I never wore just a shirt(tan) always had a coat over it, usually camo. I carried an orange knit hat in case I though I might need it. I used it some, mostly not.

Maybe I had a different outlook on enforcement than a lot of GWs. I felt my job was to get hunters to obey the game laws, and primarily to catch those who violated the laws on purpose ie, poachers, night hunters baiters. You can't catch many baiters or poachers wearing orange.

If one checked a 50 gun dove hunt on a non baited field then the only cases to be made were on those who simply forgot to put the plug back in their gun, to to get a new license. Rarely over the limit cases. I'd rather catch six guys on a hot baited field any day.....

I have not killed a shoulder mount worthy deer yet. But I do have one mounted that I didn't kill. It was poached out of my yard seven years back or so, we caught them particular poachers. 130"(rough score) 9 point. He was a fine buck so that's why he got mounted. Never have I claimed to shoot it tho.

I couldn't agree more. I don't know how someone could surround themselves with false trophies and be proud of themself. I do not and never will understand people like Lance Armstrong.

BhamFred,

My hat is off to you. Being a Game Warden has got to be one of the most thankless jobs going. And I don't think the pay is that good either!

could be worse..being a biologist that all of the deer hunters think they know more than he(all) does, and get the blame for low deer sightings, too many yotes, and SOS bucks... laugh laugh laugh

thanks...
