My 17 year old works a minimum wage job and as much over time as she can handle with all honors course load at high school to afford the 4 cylinder I got a loan for. She pays for both her insurance and her monthly payment. Costs 26 dollars to fill up. Easy to maintain and dependable. I don't know what it costs to fill up the Tahoe or Yukon but I'm betting my daughter couldn't afford that. We went with affordable with air bags and ABS.
IMO I don't know if having a 16 year old behind the wheel of a jacked up SUV is exactly what I constitute as "safe"...safe for who? him or her as the driver? What about the 30+ year driver that does drive a honda civic that gets t-boned by a texting/cell phone using teen in an Escalade?
Other things being equal, it is the man who shoots with his heart in his bow that hits the mark.
