Neighbor shot a good sized buck this PM that appeared to have shed his antlers. Looked like a 3.5 yo, healthy, plenty of fat, all male plumbing normal, tarsal glands black and stinky. Antler pedicals looked just like they had been shed/cast.

Earliest I've seen in Jackson Co.was last day of the season back in the 90's. Guy thought he was shooting a doe.

Dang I've never heard of one shedding this early. Even with a solid management program I'm sure you have and a solid buck to doe ratio one wouldn't be shedding already I wouldn't think. I would still think you'd have some does come into heat come late January during a secondary rut. Interesting to the least.

2dogs, we got a picture of a buck on 12-29, with one of the antlers hanging off but probably dropped with in a few minutes of the picture being taken. yearling 6 point, but still very weird that he appeared to be casting one side this early. Could be from fight, but this buck's age, but more so that it was just barely hanging on at the skin leads me to believe he was shedding it.

We thought fighting too. But sure looked like cast ,not ripped off to me. And both were gone, one looked fresh with a little blood, one was dried. Healthy deer from Limrock area, great soil, lots of ag crops. Who knows.

That's wild. I would have been sick if I had accidentally done that

My Dad killed one in Marion County 6 or 7 years ago that had already shed. Looked like a 2.5 year old that he had shot for a doe in January. It was not even fresh looking as if they had shed several weeks prior. I don't think I have a digital copy of the picture but I will check. I believe the testosterone levels cause antler casting so maybe he was a little out of wack.

Have a 6pt on camera back near the end of Dec, that had shed one side.
Life is a journey. Make sure and bring plenty of Beer.
My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.

I found a shed in a food plot in Bibb Co on 1/31 4 years ago. He must have been suffering from Low T.
