"I'm not near as critical about how big they are as I once was. Smiles are more important now! We will grow more deer."

Civilians can also deploy as a part of their employment just like Active, Guard and Reserve members.

If they are so important in garrison, it only makes sense to take advantage of what they bring to the fight downrange as well.

Been here long enough to go from "bring 'da pain" to " bring 'da pain meds.

Heard of it? Yes. Do I understand the ramifications of it? No.

Without your 2nd amendment rights you have no 1st amendment rights.

Civilian jobs out of country are posted for incumbent civil service folks a lot. Mostly in support of an effort of some type needing the expertise already on the guvment teet.

Get the F out of the BATFE. The F is guaranteed by the US Constitution. Those other letters are not.

I know lots of guys/gals that have worked in Iraq and Afganistan since 2005 or so when the "rebuilding" began.

As a retired DOD employee, you can be deploy to any place you are need to repair or maintain equipment such as combat vechiles and small arms. Workers from places like Annniston Army Depot and Red River Army Depot have been sent to the middle east in last two wars and some for a year at a time. And if you are an expert or have a special skill you can be ordered to go.
