He's a freak with his abolt 280. My personal longest is a doe at 325yds. If your decoy doesnt have holes in it, your not letting him get close enough... J.H. Fortunately, I was in a shooting house with a window to prop on. I chickened out on pulling the trigger, as this was one of the biggest bucks I've seen while hunting and just didn't want to booger him up. I can't imagine trying to shoot one at 650 yards. That's impressive.

JBinGulfShores spike J Joined: Dec 2012 Posts: 55 Gulf Shores, hunt in Wilcox	My longest was a ranged 405yds with a Remington sendaro in 25-06 while filling doe tags in a cutover/cedar flat. I think it's rare to have anywhere in Alabama you can shoot over 300 yards on most properties though. Maybe a pasture? It's important to practice long shots before attempting them on game (except maybe groundhogs) we use a 4x8 sheet of plywood painted white then place the targets in the middle at 350 yards to practice. Hunt mostly in the woods so never really had a chance to shoot far before i started bow hunting only. 275 yards is the farthest i have shot at an animal, doe. It was a miss, i was told no farther than 150 by my buddy, he was way off. 120 is the farthest i have made on a doe with a .30-06. Farthest with a bow is 30 yards. I like to get them in close Obsession Lethal Force 70# 27.5"
