At a place in Dallas County I hunt, we have two distinct color variations of deer. One is a light brown, which we call piney woods deer. We've never killed one over 200lbs. The other we call swamp donkeys. They have a grey hue to em, bigger feet, and are bigger in body size. We killed one a few years ago that was 240lbs. The racks seem different also between the two.

My only story with genetic variations comes from the club I was in, in Shelby county a few years back. I started to notice that if we killed a buck with a weird scraggly rack it had a tail about 12 to 16 inches long but if you killed a sho nuff goodern with a nice pretty rack, it had a short tail 5 to 7 inches long.
Yeah c’mon. Daniel White
