Many of you have said that people shouldn't get a tax break based on how they earn their income.
Should people be given a tax break based on how they spend their income?
Can you elaborate? Do you mean like rebates and stuff (ie buying a $7500 storm shelter but getting a $3000 tax credit back)?
It's easy to understand. Do you have a home mortgage? Do you take the mortgage interest deduction? That's not available to people who don't have a mortgage. Tax credits for things like a storm shelter or any of the BS green energy tax credits for certain home improvements are not availablefor those who don't own a home.
Have children? You get a tax break. What about the folks without children?
Have a car? You can deduct your ad valorem taxes if you itemize. What about folks without automobiles?
And on and on and on... Point is, the federal government has used the tax code as a social engineering mechanism for as long as there have been income taxes.
Very good point. I like a flat tax
Yep, either that or a universal sales tax in lieu of any other tax. Spend more, you pay more.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.
