Sounds like the next project is reintroducing wooly mammoths into Alaska.....That entire Rogan interview is pretty interesting to listen to

I don’t agree with this happening. Thai all may lead to opening a Pandora’s box from some disease etc….
Covid early in was bad enough, thank goodness it lessened with each mutation. We have superbugs or viruses now so this meddling may not need well.
Other than that I guess it’s kinda cool

They should bring back the Do-Do Bird. Apparently the sailors who got to eat them said they were delicious and bigger than a turkey.

They should bring back the Do-Do Bird. Apparently the sailors who got to eat them said they were delicious and bigger than a turkey. Colossal's CEO said on Rogans podcast that they were working on the dire wolves, wooly mammoths, thylacine (Tasmanian tiger), and do-do birds I believe. Super interesting stuff, I think I would be most excited about the thylacine, maybe a do-do bird as well if they gobble like a turkey

If they’re gonna bring something back, I nominate Pterodactyls. I got some buddies that can’t hit a dove for chit but I don’t reckon they could miss that giant bastage. Bacon wrapped Pterodactyl breast would probably eat pretty good too.

Once you figure out how to do it and other folks can also replicate it…..its only a matter of time before someone brings back something they really, really shouldn’t……That’s what Rogan alluded to several times……What happens when someone makes a short faced bear because they had a bunch of money and thought it’d be cool until is wasn’t…..or even the well intentioned folks making something that has unintended consequences they didn’t consider……Its beyond amazing and god like to be able to do stuff like this now and probably a sign that man is getting pretty close to growing to big for his britches……

Read a little knit and it’s not truly the dire wolf but a slight figment of. It’s like a labradoodle whatchamacallit grey artic wolf and 2-5% dire wolf

Nope I read a linked article that told how they were made and it’s not a true dire wolf according to what I read. It still has other species that were used to bring it to life.
I’m sure I’ll listen to it at some point since Rogan is in my play list.

https://www.scientificamerican.com/...what-de-extinction-tech-can-actually-do/ARE DIRE WOLVES RELATED TO MODERN WOLVES? Because of skeletal similarities, scientists had thought that dire wolves were relatives of modern gray wolves. But DNA evidence published in a 2021 study found dire wolves belonged to a much older evolutionary lineage of dogs. The resemblance between dire wolves and gray wolves is an example of convergent evolution, when species separately evolve similar adaptations because they lead a similar lifestyle, the study’s researchers said at the time.
