Heard 3 this morning. Had a friend trying to get their first bird. They had a great time, heard some birds, had 4 Jakes in range and several hens. Didn’t get on one of the gobblers but it was a great hunt.

Back in the area I sat down on the bird a couple of weeks ago. Got about an hour and half to get it done, we will see.

Got our butts handed to us in St Clair co. Heard birds, saw birds, but they would not cooperate.

No weekday hunting for me now due to kids and school. Planning on hitting a spot that I haven't been to yet tomorrow morning. It's usually good for a bird every year.

Missed one yesterday morning started out on one ridge, he was on the other, i get to the ridge he was on and all we did was swap places. eventually he commited across the bottom and got to my ridge for the 2nd time. he gobbled and was with 30 yrds. poked his head out on the road, looked down the road away from me and started putting. when he finally got all the way out in the road he was farther then what he origanlly was and i swung and missed.

I feel your pain brother, maybe you’ll get to square up with him again

starting monday moring im off for 2 1/2 weeks so we shall see. ill also be looking at different public land to hit up

I may be one and done this year. Only huntable bird that I’ve heard so far is the one I killed. Went to that fresh spot this morning and not a peep, track, or feather.

I’ve heard multiples gobbling every morning this week and had either a friend or my son on the gun. We’ve not once called up a bird. They hit the ground running every day and on multiple different properties. Oddest turkey behavior I’ve seen.

Ok. Enough with the generosity! They’ve had their go at it. It sounds like you need to be behind the gun to kill one. We need it! I damn sure ain’t coming close!


I’m kidding of course. Having your kid kill one is the best thing ever!

lol! I’m pulling off the gloves tomorrow morning. With the full moon I plan on being under one when he wakes up. Unless he pitches a long way he may have a rough wake up. But every time I think of a way to kill a stubborn bird he rarely goes along with it.

I will hopefully be headed to NE and SD for a week in a few weeks and I hope that provides some opportunity!

one thing an old timer told me was never make a plan on how to kill a bird. said 95% of the time plans are just that plans

I work off in the morning and im off for 2 weeks.. ill hunt everyday somewhere either the club or public. on the plus side i have got a big increase in camera activity the last 2 days vs. the rest of the season where i was getting 1 pic every 4-5 days on only one cam
