I like the fiberglass “bubble” looking ones that anchor to concrete and are buried completely beneath the ground. They have some with sliding doors and can be put on flat ground so there’s no need for a hillside or a mound of dirt in the yard.

I’ve seen pictures of one in Chilton county a family hunkered down in over the weekend. It looked like a storage shed/3sided carport buried in the ground with railroad ties on 3 sides and big metal door on the 4th. All buried except the door side. Their trailer was demolished but the shelter kept them safe. Very redneck engineered.

i helped a buddy one weekend trimming a new construction home and there was a septic company there putting in a huge plastic septic tank. had 2 big lids on either end. why couldn’t you add some ventilation pipes and a sheet of plywood to have a flat surface to lay on in the bottom. would guess it was 6-8’ long , 3-4’ in diameter

Give me bout 15 more minutes, I was dreamin about beavers..........

Bury it into a bank with the doors facing towards the northeast.

Non-completely-thought-out-idea

I wonder if you can get a sea crate partially embedded into a hill side up to its top at deepest level. And then anchor bottom (resting on compacted gravel) into deep concrete pilings for “lift off protection”. Build drainage piping into back fill gravel where it’s buried against soil to get water pressure off it. For the areas above ground surround it with Gabion Cages you fill with whatever is local as you have time. For the entrance, devise a way to put a normal easy to handle steel inward opening door on it, and surround the entrance with Gabion Cages to prevent direct line-of-sight (like a public restroom). Install vents and wire for power with a couple large batteries tickle charged off solar panel mounted on top. Get a cheap TV with antenna to watch James Spann mounted to wall. Maybe put a make shift camp toilet (outhouse style through floor?) framed in a corner. Get some small electric vent fans to run off solar so it doesn’t dew up on the inside.
