What ya got? The more redneck ingenious the better. After what I've been through this weekend I ain't doing that shit again. I drove through Plantersville today, dropped off some water at the church, talked to a cousin for a while. Finally back home. A guy was killed that was loved by many. I heard of another one that died, then an older woman was found 3/4 of a mile from where her mobile home was destroyed. We had to go in the storm pit 3 times last night. Stayed with my wife's aunts because she has a deep bunker next to her basement, but we ain't doing that again. So I'm researching DIY storm pits. What have yall made?

Not to be negative but when tornados decide to land nothing and nowhere is safe. Seen houses lassoed by power lines 8 inches into a concrete footer pine straw needles stuck 4 inches into concrete and heard that freight train sound on April 27 2011. Nothings truly safe.
Skinny is my EX.Alcohol was involved.

Other than having a bank vault, To be truly safe you have to get underground with a heavy metal door

I'm thinking of a short shipping container buried. Seal the doors up on it and cut a hole in the top for stairs.

The old school bus buried in the ground may make a come back. There are still a few around here from the early 90's. Had a buddy that his grandad had one. I’d love to have one as nice as it was… wood stove, ac, beds, buried up in the bank in backyard..

I bought a few things off of him over the years and he did a few things for family. Jawbone knows him better than I.

We had to work in plantersville today and man that place got hammered! I probably drove right by ya at some point. Yeah I've never seen anything like it around there. For some reason I thought them hills wouldn't let a tornado do what it did. Always figured the landscape would disrupt the circulation. I was totally wrong about that.

Some of the worst damage I've seen has been in very hilly country.

In 2011 (Hackleburg F5)my grandmother wouldn’t go to the shelter so I stayed with her, only part of the apartment that was still standing was the hallway we were in…. I usually go ahead of time now, plan on building a big one this summer…

I'm thinking of a short shipping container buried. Seal the doors up on it and cut a hole in the top for stairs. I have read about doing this. You have to get a container that is rated for being buried or it could collapse in on you.

The more redneck ingenious the better. Over in Pickens County, Palmetto area to be exact, there used to be a homemade storm shelter on the side of the road, buried in a bank. It was an ambulance. Somebody took an old ambulance and buried it all but the back doors, deep into a dirt bank. You got in it through the back doors. Not sure you'll find more redneck ingenious than that.
