I missed getting hit by the 2011 tornado by maybe 1 minute. I was headed south on highway 43 from Russellville, AL. Had just left court in Franklin County and headed back to my office in Hamilton. Coming into Hackleburg I passed another attorney that was from Hamilton (had just been in court with me) and was hauling a$$ to Hamilton. I started to pull into a gravel pit and park next to a steep cut bank but decided against it and continued on. The attorney that I had passed couldn’t have been 2 miles behind me, he did pull into the gravel pit. There was an 18 wheeler between us. The attorney came out good, however the 18 wheeler was blown over and the driver was killed.
