I bought a new 4Runner in 2017 from Hoover Toyota. Had by far the largest selection of 4Runners in the state and the prices were good. Also had a hassle free experience which was what I was looking for. Don’t know how many used 4Runners they have but you can go on line and check for yourself. Practically 0 on the lot. Wasn’t necessarily looking for 4Runners, but I don’t remember seeing any. My wife and I went to look yesterday. Good lord at the prices on new and used vehicles. Makes me want to puke. Hard to fathom $40-50K on a lightly used mid size suv. Some are way over that.

Seems like all the new Tundras are some kind of special edition. Stopped at one that was $83,000!! The good news was is was marked down from $83,500.

So let’s say you got $20K to put down/trade or whatever. You’re still looking at an 8 or $900 payment if I had to bet. That’s more than my first house payment. I don’t make a killing between 2 jobs, but do ok. I can’t imagine paying that right now for a car. Could I afford it? Yeah. Lots of other things I’d rather do with that amount of money though that would be a much better investment instead of buying something that depreciates quickly.

We have a 2018 Ram 1500, a 2022 Mazda CX-5 and a 2013 Jeep Rubicon. I'm 64 and I hope we never have to buy another vehicle.

Looking for a used 4Runner . Which dealership in Tuscaloosa or Birmingham would you recommend? Used, find you someone that does auctions, if you can't find one, PM me, and I'll give you my local number in Montgomery.

I’m gonna make a suggestion. I’ve owned a 4Runner and now own a 2019 Lexus GX460. I would look at a low miles used 460 before totally committing to a 4Runner. It is much nicer and way more comfortable than the 2019 4Runner I owned. The Toyotas get terrible gas mileage and compared to the V8 in the 460 it’s very comparable. The prices on used 460’s may have gone through the roof but when I traded they were very comparable in price.

Considering they just changed the body style on the Lexus GX, you can probably find the old style for cheaper now. That V8 is stout and it will last. They’re all 4wd too.

I would think the Toyota Highlander would be more comparable to the Lexus as far as the ride.
