I’ve had 4 bucks show up in last 2 days that I’ve never had on camera. It’s like they have calendars.

The period prior to green up is very hard on deer. There is the least amount of food to be found at this time. Turn off every corn feeder on Feb 10th and the deer are forced to their feet. My feeders are still spinning and the survivors are still eating daily. Gives me a chance to work on the nest predators as an added bonus.

You’re in an area with an early-mid January rut. Buck Age structure is most likely badly out of whack and most likely there are not enough bucks to breed all the does in their first cycle. The rut will last until the last does are bred. Bucks are now greatly expanding their ranges and roaming all over the country looking for those unbred does coming into their second or third cycles. Happens all over most of Alabama and will continue until that smell is no longer in the air. It’s pretty much a statewide situation and is very detrimental to the entire herd. Especially the buck population. .

Same here but my neighbor feeds in troughs and I imagine he filled them up probably a week or ten days ago for the last time so they are empty and I am still feeding.

They're wondering where the magic corn has disappeared to? It only takes a day of me running out and they run off to the neighbor's property.

It's not just the food where I am at. They are still actively running does, mature bucks showing up I haven't seen since last year this time

Bucks aren’t worried about food around here right now. Unless there’s some does around those food sources. We’re probably on our second go around for unbred does.

Moonphase was the earlier phase this year and lockdown with record heat had them shut down around lowndes. Cameras all over between fields. Zero movement except minimal on Greenfields. They showed up again on the 11th when it cooled. Next week will be boocoo deer being bred.
